Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Gor Mahia have resumed training ahead of the delayed 2020/21 season.
K’Ogalo, who were declared champions by Football Kenya Federation (FKF) president Nick Mwendwa in April, have been beefing up their squad ahead of the new campaign with Burundian Jules Ulimwengu the latest addition after he penned a two-year contract on Monday.
Like the rest of the KPL teams, Gor have endured financial trouble since coronavirus landed in Kenya in March with players going for months without pay, leading to an exodus of players in search of pastures new.
Coach Steven Polack is also still away after he reportedly returned to his native England last week and he was nowhere in sight as the team started training on Tuesday.
Gor will have to be in top shape as they are expected to challenge on multiple fronts, seeking a record extending 19th KPL title as well as representing Kenya in the CAF Champions League.
It is, however, still not known when the new season will begin as football is among the sports still not allowed to resume in Kenya following the resumption of sports guidelines released by Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed last week.
